Art Auction Date Set!!

The Art Auction is officially scheduled for Saturday, April 9th from 2:00-6:00pm in Rapson Hall Courtyard!! Mark your calendars to get some great deals on art and crafts donated by professional artists, students, and architects and support a good cause. All money from the auction goes directly to projects that help our clients. We'll be selling baked goods and hope to have some live music as well, so it will be a great event!

Also, we need more art donations to sell at the auction, so get creative over Spring Break and/or spread the word to anyone who might be interested in donating! Get in touch with Maria at kenne474@umn.edu to drop off art.

Art Auction

Our 3rd Annual FBD Art Auction is coming up after Spring break!! We are currently collecting all types of art, and we'll be accepting donations until the end of March. The event is open to the community, and all proceeds cover costs of projects for our clients, so your donation will go directly to making a difference in someone's life. If you or anyone you know is interested in donating, contact Maria at kenne474@umn.edu or talk to any of the other FBD officers. Thanks!

Oak Park Community Center Project

Our current project is redesigning a classroom/playroom at the Oak Park Community Center located in North Minneapolis. We are working on developing and building benches that will double as storage, and reorganizing the existing shelves and furniture in the room. We are also going to build a doll house, kitchen set, and other toys for the children there!

Our next FBD meeting (on Friday Feb. 11th) will be our second design charrette to finalize plans for the project, and we'll start construction as soon as we can after that!

Coming this semester

Oak Park Community Center project - Design Charrette for the redesign of the children's play area will be happening soon to develop and finalize plans! Construction will begin as soon as possible, so its a great time to get involved in both the design and construction process!

Construction site visits - Our construction mentor, Randy will give us a tour of one or more of his current projects. These are a great way to see the building process firsthand and learn from a professional in the construction industry.

FBD Annual Art Auction - Our biggest fundraiser of the year, its our 3rd annual silent auction with great art, snacks, beverages, and live music held in early Spring. We're looking for art donations NOW!! If you or anyone you know would like to donate personal artwork of any kind (painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, jewelry or other crafts, etc), let Maria know! We would also be interested in frames of various sizes that are in good condition. Any type of donations would be greatly appreciated, and all of the proceeds go directly to projects for community members in need!

Jim's Deck: Before and After

In the Fall 2010 semester we worked with our client Jim.  He needed a safe way to enter his house through his backdoor and a deck he could relax and spend some time on.

Thanks to all of those that volunteered their time and helped out!
Jim's back door.

The completed deck we designed and built.
